Testimonials
"My daughter saw Dr. Gutman for a full pallet of psychological tests in the summer of 2005. At the time, my daughter was 9 years old. Dr.
Gutman met with her over a period of days for testing. It added up to be about 9 hours.
Let me begin by saying that I was extremely impressed with Dr. Gutman's approach and the thoroughness and the thoughtfulness of her report. The report was a result of tests that Dr. Gutman administered, feedback from me and from our daughter's teacher. The test results identified our daughter as having ADHD and issues with information processing.
With this diagnosis, we could start to understand our daughter's needs and the challenges she faces and figure out what steps needed to he taken to help her. Based on the report, I sought out therapists and turned to a psychiatrist who prescribed medication. Dr. Gutman's report provided them with the insight they needed to start therapy and treatment.
In addition to Dr. Gutman's knowledge of her field and the tests that are available, I think that her great success lies in the relationship she established to my daughter. She made our daughter comfortable through her openness, her humor and kindness. After our meetings, I felt confidant that my daughter was in the best possible hands and that the tests that Dr.
Gutman admi nistered reflected our daughter's best abilities because she felt at ease (and actually looked forward to seeing Dr. Gutman and her dog).
We still have the singing animals that Dr. Gutman allowed our daughter to select after each session. We both remember our visits with great fondness". -Tucson, AZ
"Dr. Gutman's testing of our son in high school produced a thorough, extensive and personal report which enabled him to get the extended time he needed for his SAT & ACT tests. Once he was admitted to the University of Arizona, Renee's report continued to benefit him by gaining him entrance to the University's highly regarded SALT program in addition to any accommodations he needed through the Disability Resource Center. These resources have aided him in finishing his first year as an Engineering major with a 3.3 GPA." - mother of college student, evaluated in 11th grade, AZ
"My 9 year old son loves Dr. Renee and her Great Dane! He has always felt that his time with Dr. Renee is dedicated and special. He loves to chat with her, even 2 years after his initial evaluation. Other professionals we've dealt with have been impressed with Dr. Gutman's evaluations, saying they've never seen one as detailed or thorough.
Dr. Gutman was sensitive, enthusiastic, circumspect and warm when getting to know the inner workings of my child and sharing her findings with our family. As a parent, I still can't believe how much time Dr. Gutman dedicates to continued care and support... we went for an evaluation and gained a life-long advocate. I will always be available for futher comment regarding the tremendous experience we've had with Dr. Renee Gutman." - parent of a boy who was tested at age 7, AZ
"I suspected that my son had ADD when he was six years old. Thankfully I found Dr. Renee Gutman during that summer and was able to have my son evaluated before first grade began. During the evaluation period, Dr.
Gutman and my son developed a caring and respectful relationship. I sent her evaluation to my sister- in- law who is a child psychologist in practice in New York City for thirty years. She told me that she had never seen an evaluation of this caliber in her professional career...What was most illuminating about Dr. Gutman's evaluation and insight was that it helped us understand the challenges of a child who is both gifted and has Attention Deficit Disorder. Two years later, my son is excelling in school; academically, socially, and athletically.
Our family life is one of respect and positive growth..I truly believe that much of our success is due to the guidance of Dr. Gutman and I couldn't recommend her more highly! " - mother of a 9 year-old boy, AZ
"My family thoroughly enjoyed the professionalism and dedication that Dr. Gutman showed toward our child. She took the needed time to provide a comprehensive evaluation and also took the time to share every detail with us. My child felt at ease with Dr. Gutman during the whole process. She added the right number of breaks to keep his attention and focus - which proved to be valuable in assessing my child." - mother of an 8 year-old male, AZ
"When we first learned that our son was struggling in school we felt helpless. We were referred to Renee by a teacher's aide who suspected he had a significant learning difference and our journey to understanding began. When you first meet Renee you are immediately embraced by a kind, gentle, compassionate and caring person who is genuinely concerned about your child. She always makes you feel as though you are her only client. The respect that she shows both parent and child makes this stressful, emotional time seem "not so bad." Renee is always honest and straightforward even when sometimes it's hard to hear the truth. The thoroughness and attention to detail of her evaluations and reports are unsurpassed. She leaves no stone unturned.
It is this "package" that made dealing with the challenge of the education of our son much more manageable.Administrators, teachers and schools also benefit dramatically from Renee's extensive knowledge and skills. In our experience, more often than not they were blown away.
Working with Renee takes a huge weight off your shoulders and lets you breathe again. She will never let you or your child down or make you go it alone. She has been our lifeline for ten years. Our son is now in college and we still ask her for advice. We are proud to call her our hero." - parents of a college student who has been followed since age 9, NY

"I met Renee when I was in fourth grade. I was having a real problem in school. My parents brought me to see her for "testing" which didn't sound like fun to me but much to my surprise it was great. All her animals, snacks, toys and basketball breaks made me want to come back for more. I have worked with Renee for 10 years or so and I can honestly tell you she saved my life. She never judged me or had a negative thing to say about me (in front of me). She was ever the optimist and so happy even when she probably knew that I didn't do well on a particular segment. Her smile is infectious and her words of encouragement beyond belief. I always felt so much better after talking with her. She still calls or e-mail's me even now to make sure I'm ok and I am thanks to her." - college student, followed since age 9, NY

“When my daughter heard she was going to be ‘tested,’ her reaction was, ‘No way.’ She agreed to give it a try and after the first session, she couldn’t wait to come for another. Renée should really be called the ‘Kid Whisperer’ since she’s one of those rare people who kids relate to and trust immediately. The testing Renée conducted was extremely thorough and gave us additional insights into the areas that the IEP should address. Renée even attended the IEP meeting and helped us in structuring an approach that would be most beneficial.” - mother of a middle school female, AZ

She makes them feel comfortable and safe so her evaluation can be as complete as possible. Dr. Gutman has been a successful and fierce advocate for our children in explaining learning issues and seeking accommodations with schools and has always made herself available for follow-up and advice. We consider her a significant part of our "team" of caring professionals who have helped us make the right educational choices for our children for the past decade. “ – parents of a college female, followed since age 7, and a high school male, followed since age 12, NY
"Dr. Gutman was instrumental in helping our child obtain the educational services he needed. She was a firm, sincere, articulate and effective advocate for our son. Without her support, it is unlikely we would have been able to convince the school district that the program we wanted was appropriate for our child."- parents of a high school male, NY
"Dr. Renée Gutman is a wonderful and caring person and insightful neuropsychologist. Our son was in third grade at Greenwich Country Day School when his teachers recommended he be assessed professionally. He was having trouble staying focused, decoding phonetically and reading for comprehension was not easy for him. His self esteem was very low and he would be very sad at the end of the day because he felt "stupid". His teachers were concerned about him and they felt he should be assessed professionally. Dr. Gutman, was highly recommended to us by a friend. She was immediately so welcoming and fun, and her office was very kid friendly. Our son looked forward to going to visit and performing the battery of tests over several sessions. He saw her as a friend and the tests as games. She knew how to pace the tests, take necessary breaks and never rushed the process, yet her billing was very fair. At the end of the testing, Dr. Gutman spent a lot of time with us, going over the results of the testing including explaining the different tests. Her final report was very comprehensive and our school was impressed with it's thoroughness relative to reports from other professionals they had received. Her recommendations included a trial for ADHD medication, and also identified his need for a language therapist to help him with a language processing problem. Our son is now in 8th grade and for the second year in a row has received the school's personal achievement award and is on academic honor role. Our son is happy and his self esteem is solid; his teachers are thrilled with his academic and personal growth." – mother of a young teen who was tested at age 8, CT
"Finding Renée was a gift to our family. We wanted to have our very gifted son evaluated before entering school so that we could find a school best suited to him. It was tricky though, because we needed to find someone who understood giftedness and the its implications for testing AND someone who was willing to make the testing situation comfortable and nurturing for a very young child (5 years old). Renée was truly the only person who possessed all the knowledge and expertise about gifted kids and was willing to do whatever was necessary to make testing a positive experience. Our son actually had a fun time and we were able to provide the school with what they needed. My son still attends the school she helped us find and now, many years later, she is still our indispensible guide and resource, always offering her wonderful assistance for whatever bump in the road pops up. I do not know what we would do without her!" - mother of profoundly gifted middle school boy who was five at the time of testing, NY
"Dr. Gutman’s warm, gentle and caring manner allowed our son to immediately feel at ease with her. Because she was able to develop a relationship with our son, we believe that Dr. Gutman got the most accurate results possible from her testing. Her thoughtful testing pinpointed the exact area of weakness for our son. Once we had this information, so many things made sense to us, and we were able to get him the help he needed…She did so much more than just test and assess our son. She patiently directed us so that we could give him the best possible help… Dr. Gutman is much more than a neuropsychologist; she is a true partner in our son’s growth and development. She takes a genuine interest in her patients. Anytime a problem arises, Dr. Gutman is available for consultation and advice…The true joy that Dr. Gutman felt when our son got into the college of his choice is a testament to how deeply she cares about her patients."

"Renee was instrumental in helping my twelve year old son at a critical point in his life. He is a very bright boy who was failing in school and had no self confidence. In spite of numerous evaluations, no other professional could identify his issues and he seemed to be headed for a downward spiral. After our session with Renee, whom my son still remembers fondly, she was able to make an accurate diagnosis and give our family tremendous support and direction throughout his school years. My son is now thriving at an excellent university but, more importantly, is prepared to face the world full of self confidence, thanks to Renee's positive intervention in his life." - mother of a University student, evaluated at age 12, UK
